Join the Bristol Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) and Audubon Society of Rhode Island Senior Director of Education Programs Lauren Parmelee for an informational introduction to owls followed by a nocturnal stroll at Mount Hope Farm to look and listen for them in their natural habitat.
During the fall and winter, several owl species nest in Bristol and can be heard calling to each other as they set up their territories and bond with their mates. Owls you may encounter include the Screech, Great Horned, or Barred Owl. You never know what you’ll hear or see, but participants will learn a lot and have a great nighttime walk.
The event starts at the Mount Hope Farm Barn. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy walking shoes, and bring a flashlight. Parking is in the parking lot behind the barn, which is accessed via the main driveway. The cash or check-only fee is $15 per person, a maximum of $25 for families, and free for BLCT members. All proceeds go to support the BLCT's mission of preserving open space forever. The rain/snow date is Wednesday, December 13.
