This group will play music from one of the most exciting decades, when jazz and blues collided to form melodies that truly float above that infectious groove known as swing. The quintet plays compositions by Duke Ellington, Ben Webster, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Coleman Hawkins, and Clifford Brown, just to name a few. It is the classic quintet instrumentation that was the vehicle for jazz improvisation from the late 1940s to the early 1960s.
Paul Del Nero's quintet features Jeff Stout on trumpet, Arnie Krakowsky on tenor saxophone, John Wilkins on guitar, Mark Teixeira on drums, and Paul on bass. And it promises to be a swinging evening of straight-ahead jazz in the Barn at Mount Hope Farm
Paul is now in his fifth decade as a professional bassist and recently retired after 28 years on the faculty at the Berklee College of Music. Over his career, he has performed throughout North America as well as abroad and has shared the stage with many of the legends of jazz.
Paul lives in Bristol, where he and his wife, Cathy, promote jazz through their Shoe Horn Concert Series. If you are interested to know more please share your contact info: pauldelnerojazz@gmail.com.
