February 6, 2019

What are the facts and the fiction behind ‘Four Eagles” at 341 Hope St, Bristol, RI?

Join us for the discussion at Mount Hope Farm Barn on February 6, 2019 at 7 pm.

Many rumors and some facts are behind the Eagles that adorn four corner posts of the 1808 Federal Home balustrade on Hope St in Bristol.   How did they get there? Why are they significant? Are they carved wood, replicas, or just some fanciful folklore fun?
It is hard to separate the house from the Eagles. So join us to review some history, legend, facts and fancies behind ‘The John Howe House’, or ‘The House with the Four Eagles’ as we review   another interesting part of this town.

Garry Holmstrom and his wife are the current owners of the home who recently completed a two-year exterior roof and Eagles restoration. Bring a friend and/or a Bristolian who can add to the history.
